Five athletes earned first-place finishes in Saturday’s Norski Invite
at DeForest High School as the Monona Grove/McFarland wrestling co-op
ended up third of five teams in overall points.
Freshman Cole
Weaver championed the 120-pound class after taking five wins, three in
falls. One of his victims was sophomore teammate Ignacio Gatica, who was
pinned at 2:23. Gatica was second overall among 120-pounders.
Sophomore
Zach Gunderson earned the first-place finish among 145-pounders after
pinning four opponents, including Koby Prellwitz of DeForest in the
first-place match. Gunderson’s season record is now 21-3.
In
the 152-pound bouts, MGM senior Carlos Gatica was the champion after
winning with five falls. He needed only 17 seconds to pin Alex Endres of
