My name is Mark Bancroft, and I joined the MGM wrestling board at the end of the 2024/25 wrestling season.  Growing up in central Iowa, wrestling was a huge sport for the state but not one that I personally enjoyed, so of course when my son Tristan got a flyer from a group of kids in a parade about joining a local wrestling club, and then asked if he could try it, we signed him up.  Since then (~6 or 7yrs and counting), wrestling has done a great deal toward shaping my child's love of athletics and developing the mental toughness required for both the sport and for life in general.  Wrestling as a sport teaches so much more than just techniques and strategies and the Community that is MGM wrestling makes it really easy to learn about and potentially fall in love with the sport both as a family and as an individual athlete no matter what your background in the sport is.  The MGM Wrestling community has supported Tristan and both of his brothers (Connor and Marshall) as they have tried wrestling on their way to finding their own passion sports.  I joined the board to try to give back some of the many blessings that my family and I have received from being part of the club and hope to be able to pass that passion and support on to other families as they decide to join the community either as long historied wrestling families or as families like mine with almost no historical wrestling background but interested in dipping their toe in the water and seeing what the sport is all about.
